Artist Statement

I work in drawing, printmaking, and painting. All of my work starts with drawing, and although may appear non-figurative there is a figurative beginning. My inspiration comes from natural forms and their rhythms: trees, leaves, undulating land formations. Contrasts are another inspiration. The spatial contrasts of near and far, contrasts of dense areas with open, and contrasts of color patchworks are the basis of many of my works.
