PNEUHAUS is a design collective focusing on the mastery of all things inflatable. With expertise in both materials and methods we create spatial designs, temporary structures, contemporary art and large-scale immersive environments. As architects, designers, engineers, and artists, we collaborate on new forms, new ideas and new ways to define public space in ways we hope to be joyful and inspiring.
Pnit
Pnit magnifies the most basic knit stitch pattern so that this elegant and simple strength can be seen and the mechanics of it understood. Knit fabrics are a part of our daily lives, they cloth us and keep our beds warm; and yet as many of us lose track of the way the objects we interact with are made it can be easy to overlook the intrinsic structural beauty of fabrics.
Atmosphere
Atmosphere is an immersive installation examining the spatial qualities of light. The fabric surface acts as a filter, carving out planes from the sunlight that baths us every day. As the sun’s angle changes in relation to the structure throughout the day, so does the labyrinth of light inside.
Compound Camera
The Compound Camera is an immersive environment exploring the mechanism of sight. The multifaceted inflatable structure is comprised of 109 pinhole cameras, each of which share a slightly different viewport from one another. From a single vantage point, viewers experience a mode of vision that can be compared to being inside a fly’s eye.
